"Save Our Summer Oasis: Rally to Keep Woonsocket Pool Open!

Attention all community members, families, and friends of Woonsocket! Our beloved summer escape, the Woonsocket Pool, is facing a dire threat of closure due to soaring operational costs. But fear not, because together, we can prevent this cherished landmark from disappearing.

The Woonsocket Pool isn't just a place to splash and cool off on hot summer days; it's a vital hub of recreation, laughter, and memories for generations of residents. It's where friendships are forged, where families come together, and where our community thrives.

Now is the time for action. We cannot stand idly by and watch this invaluable resource slip away. We need your voice, your support, and your passion to keep the Woonsocket Pool afloat.

Join us as we rally together, brainstorm solutions, and explore avenues to secure funding and support for our pool. Whether it's through donations, volunteering, or spreading awareness, every effort counts.

If goal is not met by deadline, all funds raised will be refunded.

THE HOW?

THE POOL IS CLOSING DUE TO HIGH OPERATION COSTS. ACCORDING TO THE CITY OF WOONSOCKET, IT COSTS ROUGHLY $15,000 A MONTH TO OPERATE AND MAINTAIN. THERE ARE ABOUT 42,000 RESIDENTS IN WOONSOCKET, RI. IF ONLY 1,000 RESIDENTS DONATE $15 A MONTH,  WE CAN KEEP THE WOONSOCKET POOL AFLOAT LONG ENOUGH TO DEVELOP A LONG TERM COMPREHENSIBLE SUSTAINABILITY PLAN. THE MORE PEOPLE WILLING TO PARTICIPATE IN THIS EFFORT, LOWERS THE OVERALL MINIIMUM REQUIRED BURDEN OF EACH INDIVIDUAL.

IF 15,000 PEOPLE CARE ENOUGH TO KEEP THE POOL OPEN, WE'D ONLY NEED ONE DOLLAR A MONTH TO KEEP THE POOL OPEN AND RUNNING.

IF 40,000 PEOPLE CARE ENOUGH, IT WOULD ONLY TAKE .38 CENTS A MONTH TO KEEP THE POOL OPEARTING!

YOU MAY HAVE NO DESIRE TO SWIM OR DIRECTLY BENEFIT FROM THE POOL BEING OPERABLE, BUT THE COMMUNITY AS A WHOLE BENEFITS, EVERY AGE GROUP, EVERY DEMOGRAPHIC OF WOONSOCKET DESERVES TO NOT SEE YET ANOTHER KEYSTONE OF THE COMMUNITY BECOME A RELIC OF THE PAST. TOGETHER WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!

BENEFITS

Swimming offers a plethora of benefits for both physical and mental health. Here are some of the key advantages:

  • Full-Body Workout: Swimming engages multiple muscle groups simultaneously, providing an excellent full-body workout. It strengthens muscles in the arms, legs, core, and back, helping to improve overall muscle tone and endurance.

  • Cardiovascular Health: Swimming is an effective cardiovascular exercise that increases heart rate and improves circulation. Regular swimming sessions can help lower blood pressure, reduce the risk of heart disease, and improve heart and lung function.

  • Low-Impact Exercise: Unlike many land-based exercises, swimming is low-impact, making it ideal for individuals with joint pain, arthritis, or mobility issues. The buoyancy of water reduces stress on the joints while still providing a challenging workout.

  • Stress Relief: Swimming has been shown to have a calming effect on the mind and body, reducing stress, anxiety, and tension. The rhythmic nature of swimming strokes, combined with the buoyancy of water, creates a meditative experience that promotes relaxation and mental well-being.

  • Social Interaction: Swimming can be a social activity, whether participating in group classes, joining a swim team, or simply swimming with friends and family. Social interaction and camaraderie can contribute to overall happiness and motivation to stay active.

  • Lifesaving Skills: Learning to swim is a valuable life skill that can potentially save lives. It equips individuals with essential water safety knowledge and swimming abilities, reducing the risk of drowning accidents and increasing confidence in and around water.
